DOPPELGANGER ! BEWARE !

amusedBut, what is the possibility of finding one in your very own hometown ?!!!!!
People who've mastered the art of beginning a conversation would vouch that, saying: " I've seen you somewhere..." would definitely get the ball rolling.
Well, since a while, i've been getting that, like a lot !!
And yes, i did wonder how it was that everyone i met strangely used the same punchline ?!!!
Like, was there a dearth of something else to say?!!!
But wait a minute! I was the one to mostly begin the conversations!!
So, something was wrong !!!
Pretty soon, i started noticing people who didn't mean to strike up a dialogue with me -like, for example an auto driver as he was handing me the change or perhaps a grocery store guy when handing me the bag or even a pharmacist - mouthing the very same catchphrase !!
Yup. No two ways about it, I was having competition from a Doppelganger !
So I tried getting a few people to think harder about zeroing in on where they'd actually seen me, but nope. Most of them simply couldn't help that info.
Talk of memory lapse being as rampant as common cold !
After a few unsuccessful attempts, i stopped trying.
Well, at least my Doppelganger wasn't getting anybody irate with me.
Then, a couple of off-beat family gatherings and a dinner party or two found a few people telling me that i closely resembled a TV compere !
The show was called Idea Star Singer; something like the "Indian Idol" that was/is a national hit.
On asking around, what struck me was the fact that, this was one 5-nights-a-week show that had a viewership status in Cochin, if not Kerala of almost 98% !
And i didn't tarry any longer to get down to watching that show myself and yep..
Something about the host did bear a strong semblance to me, though i couldn't exactly put my finger to it.
I checked with my sonny, and he echoed the same thought !
And so, finally, i could rest the Doppelganger Case ! Yup. I just found her !

And the next time round someone in town has a hard time placing me, i'll be more than willing to help!! :-)
Incidentally, i just found this odd site on the net called Find My Twin aimed at helping you find your lookalike!
Well, i didn't check it out and so cant vouch for the success quotient, but a few pics put up for visitors, did have me amused!
